3rd Cotswold ‘Fireside’ Backgammon Tournament

28th to 30th January, 2005

at the Crown Inn Hotel, Blockley, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire

The 3rd Cotswold ‘Fireside’ (holder: John Slattery) will take place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 January 2005, with warm-up and jackpots on Friday 28 January.
The programme will also feature the traditional (optional) Texas Hold’em Poker competition (holder: Tony Lee) on the Saturday night. Host Martin Hemming is taking soundings on a possible additional poker tournament on the Sunday night.
For those not yet in the know, The Crown Inn is a gem of a hotel situated in a delightful honey-stoned village in the heart of the Cotswold Hills, about 50 miles north-west of London. The food is great, the service attentive and the atmosphere brilliant -- yes, it’s possible to have all that and backgammon too!

Programme

Friday from 4pm:Jackpots and quarter-entries by demand
Friday after dinner:Poker tutorial (and maybe a quick game)
Saturday 11am:Main flight (best-of-three 7-pt matches)
Saturday 2pm:Progressive consolation begins (11-pts)
Saturday after dinner:£10 entry pot limit Texas Hold’em tourney
Sunday 11am:Main and consolation flights continue, Last Chance begins

Accommodation

Dinner, bed and breakfast at the Crown for 2 nights costs £154 single occupancy or £121 per person for 2 sharing a double.
This is a discounted rate but if you can do better by negotiation you are welcome to try.
The hotel has only 23 rooms so book early to avoid disappointment, although there is ample B&B accommodation close by in the village, and you can still eat at the Crown.
Rooms each have their individual style.
Superior rooms (four-poster bed etc) are the same price but they get booked first.
