Nackgammon Grand Prix 2012 tournament
#2 of 4,
Thursday, May 31st,
from 7.00pm at the BCSC.
The details:
No, it's not a typo! This is Nackgammon, named after the man who devised it, top American player Nack Ballard.
It's basically normal backgammon with slightly different starting positions. One piece from each of the points usually starting with five pieces on is removed to the back but one point (the twenty-three point).
This means there's a lot more contact with the opponent's men, making games more complex and less likely to develop into a boring straight race.
This is the second of three such events being held this year, with performances earning points in the inaugural Nackgammon Grand Prix series.
Entry will be £10, there will be two flights, and all matches in each flight will be played to five points.
At least 80% of all stake money will be returned as prizes, the remainder being split between a prize fund for the Nackgammon Grand Prix and an admin fee.
There will also be an optional £10 side pool, where the player(s) progressing furthest in the tournament will win/share the entire proceeds.
If you have a board, please bring it!
